Guanyin center
Shanghai, China
Context
The site for Guanyin center is a unique opportunity to create a world class spiritual, entertainment mixed use project.
Concept
The center will be divided into five thematic zones. Each zone will have distinct theming and will offer something to all ages. Our concept for theming the center was five elements where “they should be seen as five phases in a cycle. Each gives birth to another and each can be destroyed by another”. The rich cultural heritage of China will be the central inspiration for theming of the center.
Inspiration
Guanyin seated in the heart of Lotus.
Master Plan
No project, no matter what size can exist without a master plan. A master plan sorts out areas and relationships before the three dimensional design begins. A good master plan will resolve immediate needs and continue to provide a working document for future.
The Guanyin center will be a pedestrian oriented environment. Guests will leave their cars in the parking structure outside of the center, early and the foot experience begins. Each zone flows naturally into the next zone. Within each major zone will be an entertainment street and a diverse offering of restaurants and rest spaces. The service vehicles will have access to the site with minimized visual impact from separate entrances and will drive in under the primary spaces.
