Paris Landmark
Paris, France
The Olympic landmark proposal draws its inspiration from the Olympic rings representing the union of the five continents and the meeting of athletes from throughout the world. It is our intention to express both symbolically and experientially the coming together of the world in peace and harmony. The structure is composed of 5 independent spines that intertwine and spiral up from the ground into a viewing platform 27 meters high allowing panoramic views of the Olympic village and the city of Paris. The 5 spines terminate at the top forming the 5 Olympic rings. Attached within the rings are automated light fixtures that beam a spectrum of colors and provide for an array of light shows. The spiraling structure is wrapped in a metal mesh functioning as a translucent screen for projecting images. At the base of the landmark is the Olympic plaza, an elevated landscape providing a clear zone for gathering. The plaza gestures upwards celebrating the entrance to the Olympic village and announcing the gateway to the venue.
