Underwater World Xiamen
Xiamen, China
The New design for the Xiamen Underwater World will embrace the site in every way. It is our intention to create an architecture that is in harmony with the site’s natural, cultural and historical setting. Gulang Island is a part of Xiamen Island and a region along the mouth of the Jiulong River on the mainland China. Located at the south east coast of China this small, beautiful island has many special characteristics; a ferry service links the Xiamen Island with Gulang Island where there are no cars, motorcycles or other modes of transportation which makes the lifestyle of this jewel piece of land very peaceful and relaxing. The architecture of Gulang Island is the reflection of its colonial past which in a certain way through the years has created its own charming context of variety of styles. Gulang Island with its natural beauty is our main source of inspiration for our design; the soft undulating hills, the large majestic rocks on the hilltops and beaches all around the island and the natural landscape.
